Must-Have Tools for Working With Pal Tiya Premium (And Why a Spray Bottle Is Essential)

People often ask me what tools they need to get started with Pal Tiya Premium.

The truth is, you don't need a lot of expensive tools, but there is one tool I consider absolutely mandatory.

A spray bottle.

I would never work without one.

Why a Spray Bottle Is So Important

Pal Tiya Premium can go from being too dry to too wet very quickly.

If you accidentally add too much water, you can correct it by adding more Pal Tiya Premium, but it's much easier to control the consistency from the beginning by using a spray bottle.

I use the spray bottle while mixing and throughout the sculpting process.

When freshly mixed, you'll have a nice cookie dough consistency for about 15 minutes. After that, you'll notice it slowly begins to stiffen up.

Don't panic.

Simply add a light spray or two of water and hand mix it again. It will soften right back up and return to that nice cookie dough texture.

You can continue doing this on and off for approximately two hours.

Without a spray bottle, it's much harder to control the consistency.

If you're only buying one tool, make it a spray bottle.

How I Mix Pal Tiya Premium

Pal Tiya Premium can easily be mixed by hand.

In fact, for beginners, this is how I recommend starting.

I personally find that mixing one cup at a time is ideal. It's easy to control, easier on your wrists, and doesn't feel overwhelming.

Once you become more comfortable, you can begin making larger batches.

If I'm mixing more than one cup, I'll often use a stand mixer with a paddle attachment.

I can comfortably mix three cups at a time, and sometimes four cups, depending on the size of the mixer.

For larger projects, I use an industrial mixer, similar to what you would find in a professional bakery. These larger mixers work well when mixing half a bag at a time or at least six cups or more.

Dedicate Your Mixer to Pal Tiya Premium

If you decide to use a mixer, dedicate it to Pal Tiya Premium only.

I recommend finding an inexpensive second-hand stand mixer that you can keep in your studio.

Don't use a mixer for Pal Tiya Premium and then return it to your kitchen for food preparation.

Once it's used for Pal Tiya Premium, it should remain a dedicated sculpting tool.

Keep Dust Down While Mixing

Whenever you're mixing dry Pal Tiya Premium in a mixer, I recommend placing a towel or cover over the mixer.

This helps reduce airborne dust when you first start mixing the dry powder.

I also recommend wearing a dust mask and working in a well-ventilated area.

My Advice

Don't overcomplicate things.

Start with simple tools and get comfortable with how Pal Tiya Premium feels in your hands.

Most importantly, always keep your spray bottle beside you.

It will quickly become one of the most important tools in your workspace.
